It’s The Lord of the Flies All Over Again
yo yo yo.
Sorry I haven’t blogged in a wee while, I’m lazy. I’ve not really been up to much recently. It’s the Summer holidays just now, but I’m bored already. The weather is so shitty. Then again it is Scotland, so what do you expect? haha. It’s basically been either windy or wet for almost every day of the Summer so far.
I was in Yorkshire for a couple of days last week with my family. We stayed in like a little holiday area just outside of Filey. It just had like cottages and apartments in it. It was really nice actually. I made some rather nice purchases whilst I was away, haha. I found a great book shop in Bridlington that sold books at a discount prices. Usually these kind of shops only sell crappy books that you would never normally read, but I actually managed to get a few at a very good price, that I actually enjoy. I got “Life With My Sister Madonna” for £2.99 when it would normally be £17.99 and I also got Hannibal rising for the same price. I also got Obama’s Blackberry on hardback for £2 and a bunch of paperbacks for £2 each. If I had bought these books together in say Waterstone’s, I would have paid £60, but I got them all for £11. I was so happy, hehe. I also picked up Anne Rice’s “Interview With a Vampire” for £2.99 at a used book stall in York, and I managed to get The Silence of the Lambs for 50p at a random bargain bin at the bag of a gardening shop in Filey, along with R.E.M.’’s monster for 50p also.
Other bargains I got whilst away including the 2-disc edition of Scissor Sister’s Ta-Dah in a charity shop for £4.99 and Frankie Goes to Hollywood – Welcome to the Pleasuredome LP for £3 (I have it on CD already, but oh well).
I also got a really nice Superdry shirt in Bridlington, as well as a pair of Vans sunglasses and a Vans bag that my parents bought me.
I’m currently searching the internet for info on the Subclub in Glasgow, as I want to go and see I Blame Coco on Thursday, but I can’t reach the club via telephone to ask about buying tickets at the doors and age limitations!
Well imma go now. I shall post again soon, bye.

Yo yo yo.
Sorry I haven’t blogged in a while… I have no good excuse, haha. I’ve just been lazy.
I’ve officially finished my Standard Grade exams! Yay. I am very glad of this, naturally, although I am rather annoyed that I now have to start higher classes, which started on Monday this week. Although, to my surprise, they’ve been fine! But I’m not totally naive, I know that they’ll get really tough after the summer.
The subjects I have taken this year are:
Higher English, Higher Art, Higher Business Management, Higher Computing, and Higher History.
English has been fine so far, just very, very boring! My teacher just goes on and on, and then she’ll ask a question, to which no one responds, and then she’ll just go on about whatever it is we’re doing some more. I miss the teacher I’ve had for the last two years, she was so brilliant, and by far the best in the department. But alas, she is taking Intermediate 2 this year… what a waste.
Art has been pretty good so far. We only have to do 1 written period a week, in preparation for the final exam next year which is a written one. The rest of the time just now we are focusing our expressive piece. I’m thinking of doing a natural setting without a lot of flowers in it, so for now I am drawing a flower in tone which is due for Monday, so I really should work on it tonight after work. After we finish that we have to do a drawing of another object or person in coloured pencil, which is due before the summer starts. Then my teacher says that she will give us a summer project to do. After we complete our expressive unit before Christmas, we officially move on to design units, which has to be inspired by an Opera. I’m thinking of doing a website which advertised performances from Madam Butterfly, or creating a Kimono for it.
Business Management has been fine as well, surprisingly, as I really was not that keen on my teacher when I had her in 3rd year. I think maybe because it is a class full of older pupils, who obviously took it because they want to be there maybe, that’s why she’s nicer? haha.
Computing is fab as always, and I’m so happy that I got the teacher that I had for Standard Grade because she’s great!
History is also pretty damn good. We’re working on Laissez-faire just now, and it’s so interesting. I actually love being in history, because the stuff interests me so much… My class is tiny though. It only has about 9 people in it, which in some senses is good, because it allows the teacher to focus on everyone’s needs more. That’s another reason I love my art class, because it’s also very small, meaning that the teacher can focus on helping us more.
Let me know what you’ve been up to, and how your exams went! x

Imma Rock This Shit Like Fashion
Rihanna was amazing!!! So amazing, that I felt the need to put 3, yes 3, exclamation marks at the end of my previous sentence!
I won’t go in to a lot of detail (primarily because I can’t be bothered
). Just have a look at the photos I post with it, and I will also link to the videos from the concert that I have uploaded to YouTube so far!
Click on the thumbnails to view in full size, or click here to view the entire set in full.
You can also click here to view my YouTube page, and view the videos I took on the night!
Let me know if any of you went to the concert!
Also, it is my last exam tomorrow, Biology, so please wish me luck!

The Last Girl on Earth
I am very, very excited right now. The reason for this major excitement, you ask? Well, the reason is that I have ordered myself a ticket to go and see Rihanna at the SECC in Glasgow on the 19th of May!
My friend Bronte and her sister were going to see her anyway, so I decided to try and snag myself a ticket to the gig too, as I am also a big Rihanna fan. I scoured eBay when arriving from school tonight, and found someone selling 1 ticket for the May 19th gig at a starting bid of £25.00, with 22 minutes left, and no bids!
I immediately put in my bid of £26.00 and spend a stressful 20 minutes trying to sort out credit card information and PayPal information etc. I waited in complete anticipation for the remaining 40 seconds, and the bid went through. After that I spend another stressful 10 minutes trying to sort out PayPal details to make sure that the ticket was paid for.
It says that it is due between 3-5 working days. So I really hope that it arrives on time, otherwise I have wasted £25.50!
I am so excited to go though, and will have to fork out some of my hard-earned wages to buy some merchandise I’m sure.
Since buying the ticket, I’ve already listened to “Rated R” full twice (a brilliant album I must say) and can’t wait to hear some of the songs from it live (especially Hard, The Last Song and Firebomb [hopefully!]).
I’ll keep you posted about the ticket delivery status over the weekend. Wish me luck for my Business Studies exam tomorrow as well please, and let me know if anyone out there has been to see Rihanna’s The Last Girl on Earth Tour already, and let me know what you thought of it!
P.S. You may have noticed the new layout I put up last night (told you I would). It’s incredibly simple, but I love it nonetheless. Although, it literally took me 5 minutes to code, and is such a simple layout CSS-wise.

Anyone else so excited about M.I.A.’s new album coming out this year?!
I actually can’t wait now. Took a huge notion for her whilst studying this morning.
Speaking of studying, I now have sat 6/8 of my Standard Grade exams, with only Business to go on the 14th and Biology on the 27th, which gives me a nice 13 day gap between the two
Not really got much else to say today, although I will give a shout out to my friend Brontë, who turns 16 today! I got her a Cheryl and Ashley Cole book and Rihanna’s album – A Girl Like Me.
Other than that, I don’t really have much else to say, so I bid you goodbye dear readers, x
P.S. I need to update the bloody theme on this site. The background image is HUGE, and it takes forever to load! Thoughts?

E=MC²
My Standard Grade exams have officially started as of Thursday 29/04/2010. It was kicked off really by the art exam the previous Thursday, but that’s technically before the official SQA exam diet begins, and the date of it is decided by the school, so I’m not counting that really.
For my English writing piece I wrote a short story, which featured an opening that you had to use. I used it, and title it “The Coven”. It was about a woman who sees a light in the distance whilst walking home, and hears laughter and screams coming from that area so goes to investigate. She then discovers a group of men dancing around a bonfire, and then stumbles over the body of a dead woman, screams and is captured by the vamps. They feed on her and then turn her into one of their own.
I think it went ok, I guess. I got a 1 for my prelim, so I really hope I get at least a 2 for my actual exam.
For the general and credit close reading, It think I did ok. Although I must say I really did not get the point of the story excerpt we had to read for the credit one. It was so damn surreal and confusing!
My next exam is Maths on Wednesday, and I am fairly confident that I am not going to do well in the General paper, but who needs maths really?
I also thought I would discuss some upcoming album releases that I’m really looking forward to this year. Ones that have been released already that I was looking forward to were:
- Goldfrapp – Head First
- The Gorillaz – Plastic Beach
- and MGMT – Congratulations
Although I have yet to purchase any of these
. I really should start following through with what I say I am going to do!
Upcoming releases that I am looking forward to this year include:
- Robyn – Body Talk Pt.1, Body Talk Pt.2 and Speak Your Body (Body Talk Pt.3)
- Jennifer Lopez – Love? (YAY J-LO COMEBACK!)
- Lady Gaga – Untitled (hope it’s finished and released this year, ‘cause I <3 LADY GAY GAY)
- M.I.A. – Untitled as of yet
- Kylie Minogue – Aphrodite
That’s all that comes to mind just now, but I’m sure that I’ve missed a few. Let me know what your most anticipated album releases of 2010 are!
Btw, the E=MC² in the title is a reference to Mariah Carey’s album “E=MC²” which I bought the other day for £3 (bargain much?). I’ve listened to it like 20 times already, so damn good! I love Mariah’s music, but damn that girl is one hell of a diva!
Ciao.

Exams
my exams officially started yesterday. yesterday was art which i personally thought went ok, although i was totally pushed for time. i literally stuck the last clay bead on the guy’s necklace as we had to finish.
although the exam lasts for 5 hours in total, it goes in very, very fast, especially if you are listening to music, which was fine for the first two parts of the exam, but i was very rushed during the last section, and really began to feel the pressure.
so art officially kicked off my school’s standard grade exam schedgule, which means i am now on study leave, although i wil be spending most of my days inbetween exams in school, studying in the library, crush hall or an enpty classroom.
i’m currently in the library writing this post from my phone, and so should probably get some general maths revision done today, as well as hopefully some english practice, and some history and computing revision.
ciao, x

The Bucket List
I was watching the 19/04/10 5awesomegays video. Michael was talking about his personal “bucket list”, which is basically a list of things that someone wishes to do or achieve before he/she dies. So this inspired me to write a post about my own personal “Bucket List”. So here goes:
(these are in no particular order!)
-
Do a parachute jump
-
Go and see Madonna live, and wait before/after the concert in an attempt to meet her
-
Buy the perfect domain name: bluehairedboy.net or rainbowboy.net
-
Travel for an entire summer through Europe
-
Visit New York City
-
Purchase all of the classic albums I don’t own and should
-
Learn how to dance salsa or tap
-
Get very drunk on tequila shots and end the night by having a one-night stand with a hot Latino stranger
-
Pass all important exams at school and graduate university
-
Experience both a sunset and sunrise
-
Do something that will make a difference in improving gay rights, and encourage anti-homophobic bullying campaigns
-
Sing “Like A Virgin” in front of a very large audience
-
Learn to speak Japanese fluently and visit Tokyo to test my new linguistic skills out
-
Make a motivational speech in front of thousands of people
-
Perform 5 acts of random kindness in one day with no reward
-
Spend a day advertising and giving “Free Hugs”
-
Fly first class
-
Meet Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Johnny Depp
That’s all I can really think of just now. Do you think that my list is realistic?
I’m quite happy with it actually, and hope to achieve some of the things on there before I die, if not all, as all of them are possible, and within reason, realistic too.
That’s all folks.

The Power of Madonna
I can’t wait for the Glee episode: “The Power of Madonna” to air here in the UK. I absolutely LOVE Madonna, so much so that I put “love” in capital letters to emphasise my love for her.
I just saw the “Vogue” cover that Sue does, and it is so brilliant! It’s almost identical to the original music video. Check it out below!:
